Traders count losses as fire razes 22 shops in Kano market

A fire incident at Gwarzo Market in the Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State destroyed at least 22 shops and properties worth millions of naira.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Tuesday, the zonal information officer of the local government, Rabiu Khalil, stated that no injury was recorded and no life was lost in the inferno.
“The fire started at midnight last Sunday, and it took the State Fire Service personnel up to Monday morning before they could finally put it out,” Mr Khalil explained.
The Kano State Fire Service public relations officer, Saminu Abdullahi, also confirmed the incident: “The number of affected shops was 22 out of which two were uncompleted.”
