Côte d’Ivoire 2023: Amrabat, Hakimi, Bounou, 24 others named in Morocco’s final AFCON squad

Ahead of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) scheduled for January, the Moroccan national team, the Atlas Lions, have announced a 27-man squad for the biggest football tournament on the continent.
Morocco will be heading to the tournament as one of the favourites to win, considering their exploits at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, when they become the first African nation in history to reach the competition’s semi-finals.
The final list released by the Moroccan Football Federation on Thursday consists of three goalkeepers, nine defenders, six midfielders, and nine forwards.
As expected, the team’s first-choice goalkeeper, Yassine Bono, made the list alongside Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat. Other high-profile names are Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi, Hakim Ziyech, and Youssef En-Nesyri.
Morocco are drawn in Group F of the group stage alongside DR Congo, Zambia, and Tanzania.
