Police arrest three for cyberbullying, threat to life

The police in Lagos State have arrested two women and a man over alleged cyberstalking, cyberbullying, abduction, a threat to life and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
The suspects were arrested following several petitions from different persons.
The spokesperson of the state police, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Saturday, said a preliminary investigation established the cases against the suspects.
Mr Hundeyin said the police would investigate the cases further for possible prosecution.
He added that the police had approached a court of competent jurisdiction and got a remand order for the suspects till January 10, 2024, to ensure a thorough investigation.
“The force would continue to enforce extant laws of the nation, particularly those relating to cyberstalking and cyberbullying, which can trigger violence if not adequately managed or curtailed.
“Members of the public will be kept abreast of developments as the investigation progresses,” he said.
