Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has said his administration will continue to focus on executing a myriad of meaningful developmental projects for the people and not be distracted by unnecessary criticisms from detractors.

Mr Idris made the statement on Wednesday at Government House in Birnin Kebbi when he received the coordinators of the Kauran Gwandu Group who visited him.

He said, “Our detractors have thought that we will fail and that we will not deliver the desired projects. But we have so far shamed them by trying our possible best in the provision of the basic infrastructural needs of the people of the state. We will, in sha Allah, sustain this happy trajectory and we will continue to carry the people while administering the state.”

He revealed that the state government was not owing any salary, pensions, gratuities or death benefits, adding that the government was committed to the execution of quality and durable projects.

Mr Idris announced that work on the state secretariat complex awarded by his administration was nearing completion, saying that it would streamline the activities of the government and enhance the efficiency of MDAs.

He commended the members of the group for their invaluable contributions to the emergence of his administration as well as the success of the government’s policies and programmes.

“We have since appointed 11 of you as commissioners, special advisers and board members, and they are doing fine.

“Therefore, all the remaining 10 members will be appointed as senior special advisers to uplift their standard of living and enable them to assist others,” the governor promised.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Group, Musa Muhammad-Tungulawa, who is also the State Commissioner for Environment, extolled the giant developmental strides so far recorded by the state government.

He noted that a lot had been achieved by the Idris-led administration across the state.

“We are also here to rejoice with the governor over the series of victories at the courts as regards the 2023 polls,” the chairman said.
