Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has commiserated with the family of elder stateman Wada Sinkin, who died on Saturday after a protracted illness.

Mr Sinkin was 85 years old.

In a statement by his media aide, Bature Tofa, in Kano on Monday, Mr Yusuf described the death as shocking and devastating, considering the deceased’s contributions to the socio-economic development not only of his constituency but of the state in general.

”We received the news with shock but with total submission to the will of Allah. Mr Sinkin fought bravely for the emancipation of the common man and was a philanthropist.

”He was a successful businessman of international repute, an honest and hardworking contractor, a respected elder statesman, and a philanthropist with a sympathetic heart whose death created a wide vacuum difficult to fill.

”On behalf of the government and people of Kano State, I extend our deepest condolences to the family of the late Wada Sinkin and pray to Almighty Allah to grant his soul eternal rest and grant him the exalted Jannah,” the governor said.
