20-year-old arraigned for stealing bike in Ekiti

On Tuesday, a 20-year-old man, Timnam Nammm, appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court charged with stealing a Bajaj motorcycle valued at N700,000.

The defendant, standing trial on a charge of stealing, pleaded not guilty.

Police Prosecutor Caleb Leramo told the court that the defendant committed the offence on December 11 at midnight in Oye-Ekiti.

Mr Leramo alleged that the defendant stole a Bajaj motorcycle valued at N700,000 belonging to Rasaq Abdul.

He said the offence contravened section 302(1) (a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

Counsel to the defendant, Adeyemi Egbebi, urged the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms, promising he would not jump bail.

The chief magistrate, Saka Afunso, granted the defendant bail in N50,000, with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case until January 17 for a hearing.
