The Nigeria Police and the Police Service Commission are currently conducting hitch-free physical and credentials screening for intending general duty and specialist constables in Enugu State.

A visit to the screening venue at the Police Officers’ Mess, Agbani Road, on Friday, showed that the exercise was ongoing smoothly.

It was observed that the officials for the exercise, which started on January 8, screened out applicants with tattoo marks, body amputation, impediment in speech, deformed hands and those living with obesity among others.

Speaking on the exercise, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said that the screening had been ongoing successfully without any challenge.

Mr Ndukwe said that the intending applicants for the constable job had been cooperative and had abided by the day of their scheduled screening and requirements specified as well.

According to him, one can see the orderliness, decorum and comportment of the intending applicants coming for the screening.

“We are on track and the exercise is smooth and hitch-free without any challenge since we started on Monday. I believe with the speed and flow of the screening, we will meet up with the January 29 deadline for the exercise,” he said.

The police spokesman said that at the venue of the screening, “the Nigeria Police, PSC, the Ministry of Police Affairs and the Federal Character Commission are well represented.

“Each of these establishments is here to ensure their mandates are protected in the exercise and Enugu State is not short-changed,” he added.

The state Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, had earlier warned intending constables against scammers, adding that applicants should not give money to anyone in the process of the screening.

The applicants were also directed to channel inquiries to the recruitment help desk by calling or sending WhatsApp messages to 08069794453 or 09060483893.
