A privately owned institution, HUDA University in Zamfara, has matriculated 211 newly admitted students into its various academic courses.

HUDA was established in 2023 as the first private university in the state.

During the ceremony in Gusau on Saturday, the Chancellor of the University, the Emir of Zazzau in Kaduna State, Ahmad Bamalli, described the establishment of the institution as timely and a welcome development.

” This would further accelerate the development of education in northern Nigeria and the nation at large,” he said.

“I am using this medium to commend the founder of this great institution, management and staff for its successful take-off.

“We will make sure that all the aims and objectives behind establishing this institution are achieved and sustained,” he added.

“As a Chancellor of this great institution, I would work to the best of my ability to make it of global standard.”

The emir also charged students to be good ambassadors of their communities, parents and religion by contributing to the development of Nigeria.

Also, the Emir of Gusau, Mr Bello appreciated the institution for contributing to the development of education in the state.

The traditional ruler called on well-meaning individuals in the state to invest more in education while promising to continue to give fatherly advice to the management of the institution.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abubakar Matazu, said the 211 matriculated students were admitted as the first set of undergraduate students of the university.

Mr Matazu noted that the university was established to bridge the gaps of educational challenges bedevilling the state and the nation.

He noted that the university commenced full operation in 2023 with 11 faculties and 18 departments.

“We have laid a solid foundation for this institution to operate in line with global best practices and standards.

“It will offer academic courses on Sciences, ICT and Technology as well as community development,” the VC added.

He urged the students to face their studies with commitment and seriousness and avoid violation of the law and order of the institution.

“As leaders of tomorrow, I urge you to desist from unwanted behaviours, examination malpractices, vices and other related offences”, he said.

Some of the dignitaries who graced the occasion were the former minister of defence, Gen. Aliyu Gusau and top government officials.
