The leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria says their courtesy visit to the State House on Monday was to congratulate President Bola Tinubu over his electoral victory and pledge their support for his government.

Archbishop Daniel Okoh, who led a delegation to see Mr Tinubu on Monday, said the group visited the president to plegde their allegiance to his government, while speaking to journalists after their meeting.

“The general elections of 2023 have come and gone. By the grace of God we have a sitting president in the person of Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Mr Okoh said. So the leadership of CAN decided to pay a courtesy visit, to congratulate him on his election and pledge our support for his administration.”

Mr Okoh added, “We know there are lot of challenges in the country but what we tell our people is that this is just the beginning of this administration. Nigeria is big. What we are facing today started not just today, started many years back and it would take a while to turn around these things.

“The important thing is an intentional step the president has taken and he is taking to reverse the trend of events especially in the area of governance.

“We see it clearly the efforts he is making towards securing this nation. So we ask Nigerians who seem to have lost hope not to lose hope. But to have patience and persevere. Though it is night, we know a new dawn is just on the horizon.”

The president on Monday urged CAN to continue to preach tolerance, perseverance and hope to citizen, saying public criticisms will not make good citizens.

“We have no other country but Nigeria. If you do not preach the sermon of understanding, tolerance, perseverance, and hope for Nigerians, you are doing damage to the country, and nobody will help us repair it,” Mr Tinubu said.

He added “let us dialogue because public condemnation of a nation is not what makes any citizen a good one. We must admonish Nigerians to have a change of mindset and not to make money our god or master. I believe we will get to the Promised Land, and Nigeria will flourish.”
