Police arraign man for assault

The police on Tuesday arraigned a 42-year-old man, Michael Undie, at the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for assault and breach of public peace.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Dec. 22, 2023, at about 7:30.a.m. at Sunny Joyces Imeke community, Badagry, Lagos.
Mr Okuoimose said the defendant assaulted one Happiness Manner, the complainant, by using iron rod to hit her on her head which caused her to receive shock and became unconscious.
“The defendant also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by calling the complainant to his house and beat her up.
“The offences contravened Sections 287 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state, 2015,” the prosecutor said.
The chief magistrate, A.J. Aina granted the defendant N100,000 bail, with two sureties in like sum.
Mr Aina adjourned the case until February 13, for mention.
