AFCON 2023: France rejects Côte d’Ivoire’s loan request for Hervé Renard to replace sacked Jean-Louis Gasset

The French Football Federation has rejected Côte d’Ivoire’s loan request for Hervé Renard to manage the Ivorien team at AFCON 2023 following the host nation’s dismissal of Jean-Louis Gasset.
Renard currently manages France’s national female football team.
Côte d’Ivoire managed to get into the round of 16 at the African Nations Cup, with the skin of their teeth waiting on the last match of the group stage to learn their fate.
Their loan request for Renard was rejected on Thursday, according to L’Equipe.
The Elephants will face defending champions Senegal on Monday evening.
The FFF’s decision, stated L’Equipe, aligned with the initial stance of Philippe Diallo (president of the federation) and Jean-Michel Aulas (vice-president), who showed no inclination to entertain the request from the Ivorian side.
Renard, a two-time AFCON winner with Zambia (2012) and Ivory Coast (2015) and the former coach of Morocco (2016-2019), possesses extensive knowledge of the teams still in the competition, including their strengths and weaknesses.
