Fears of schoolchildren abduction have gripped Kano as Governor Abdullahi Ganduje ordered the immediate closure of Bagauda Technical College, located along Kano-Jos road.

According to a statement by the education ministry spokesman Aliyu Yusuf, the Kano government based its decision on a security report.

Mr Yusuf said the Commissioner of Education, Sanusi Sa’id-Kiru, announced the college’s closure in Bebeji local government area.

“The closure of the college was necessary following a disturbing security report and the need to protect lives of the students, teachers, and other staff of the college.

“Therefore, I urge parents to immediately evacuate their children from the college and wait for further directives,” it said.

Mr Yusuf added that the commissioner used the opportunity to express the Kano government’s appreciation to parents and guardians for their support and cooperation with its policies and directives, especially on security-related matters.
