Gunmen Attack: Anambra imposes 12-hour curfew on communities

Local sources also revealed that some residents were already fleeing their homes for safety.

Governor Willie Obiano has imposed a 12-hour curfew on Anambra.

Specifically, the affected places are six communities in Oyi and Anambra East local government areas.

Solo Chukwulobelu, Secretary to the State Government, announced this in a statement on Monday in Awka.

Mr Chukwulobelu listed the communities as Igbariam, Aguleri, Umueri, Nteje, Awkuzu And Umunya.

He explained that the curfew, which took immediate effect, would last between 7:00 pm and 6:00 am daily.

Mr Chukwulobelu urged residents of the affected communities to adhere strictly to the order as security personnel would ensure strict enforcement.

The police had earlier announced that gunmen at nine yet-to-be-identified persons at Nteje community.

Sources said the report of the killing had left residents of Nteje and some neighbouring communities in fear.
