The Nigerian Air Force has winged four new pilots to enhance and sustain airpower in the country.

The event, held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, was chaired by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal I.O. Amao.

The four new pilots, flying officers EH Karatu, Salihu Auwal Yadudu, Emmanuel Ayoola Olagunju, and AM Alkali, had completed their combat training in the United States and have completed about 265 hours of flight time.

In his comments, Mr Amao noted that the ceremony underlined the force’s commitment to “enhancing and sustaining critical airpower capabilities required for joint force employment in pursuit of our national security imperatives.”

He explained that the air force could not effectively employ airpower to combat insecurity in the country if it was understaffed.

He added that 233 officers were currently abroad undergoing training to support the current staff strength.
