King Charles diagnosed with cancer

British monarch King Charles III, who ascended the throne in September 2022, has been diagnosed with cancer, according to a statement by Buckingham Palace on Monday evening.
Although the statement did not specify the type of cancer the King suffers, it disclosed the terminal disease was detected during a medical procedure that recently treated the monarch’s enlarged prostate.
“During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement released Monday evening. “Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer. His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties.”
The statement stressed that King Charles III, who may not be facing the public anytime soon, will still be actively working “to undertake state business and official paperwork as usual.”
“The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.”
