Rerun: Zamfara Assembly swears in new lawmaker

The Speaker of Zamfara House of Assembly, Bilyaminu Moriki, has sworn in a newly-elected member of the house, Mustafa Sadauki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who won the 3 February rerun elections in the Shinkafi constituency of the state.
The speaker, who performed the inauguration during the assembly’s sitting in Gusau on Monday, charged Mr Sadauki to work for the development of his constituency and the state in general.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier issued a certificate of return to Mr Sadauki.
Mr Sadauki defeated his opponent, Usman Shinkafi of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with 32 votes.
The APC candidate, Mr Shinkafi, got 13,508 votes, while the PDP candidate polled 13,540 votes
Congratulating the lawmaker for winning the election, Mr Moriki urged him to discharge his duties diligently.
“On behalf of the entire members of the Seventh Assembly in the state, I welcome the newly-elected lawmaker to the chamber.
“We wish you more success in discharging your legislative assignment,” the speaker explained.
