Ondo Assembly confirms one more commissioner-designate

On Tuesday, the Ondo State House of Assembly screened and confirmed Omowumi Isaac as a commissioner-designate.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa submitted the names of six commissioner nominees to the state assembly on February 2 for screening and confirmation.
The nominees were screened and confirmed on February 6, but Ms Isaac, the sixth commissioner nominee, was unavailable for the exercise, and no reason was given for her absence.
Presenting the report on the nominee’s personality, Deputy Speaker Abayomi Akinruntan said the nominee provided excellent answers to questions directed at her.
Mr Akinruntan, the vice chairman of the House Selection Committee, added that the nominee had the requirements needed to be appointed a commissioner in the state.
The majority leader, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, Owo 1/APC, therefore, moved a motion for the nominee to be presented for screening and confirmation and Raymond Laolu, Akoko South-West 1/APC, seconded the motion.
Mr Ogunmolasuyi appreciated the selection committee for finding the nominee worthy of fitting into the office of a commissioner.
Olamide Oladiji, the speaker of the House, urged Ms Isaac to live up to the expectations of the state’s people and to join hands with the state governor for the development of the state.
Mr Oladiji promised that the legislative arm would continue to collaborate with the state governor for the rapid development and growth of the state.
Responding, Ms Isaac thanked the state governor and the assembly for their consideration.
She promised not to let the people down.
Ms Isaac hails from Owo, in the Owo Local Government Area of the state.
