The Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, admitted 3,696 students for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The rector of the polytechnic, Dr Usman Sani-Tunga, gave the figure at the institution’s 29th matriculation ceremony on Thursday.

He said the event allowed the students to reflect on their academic journeys and do better and that in the 2023-2024 session, 3,781 candidates applied for admission into our various programmes.

Out of this number, 3,696 were offered admission.

The rector said the students were admitted into the institution’s various Higher National Diploma, National Diploma and Nigeria Certificate in Education programmes.

Mr Sani-Tunga urged the students to work hard and be of good character to excel.

“This institution has a solid foundation rooted in academic excellence and strong moral values. We shall continue to uphold these values that stand us out,” he said.

He also urged the students to shun vices such as cultism, drunkenness, examination malpractice, and disrespect for constituted authorities, for which, he said, the institution had zero tolerance.

While congratulating the students, the rector advised them to be security conscious and report suspicious situations to the university authority.
