PSG turns to Osimhen as Mbappe prepares to exit

Paris Saint-Germain have turned their attention to Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen after star Kylian Mbappe informed the French club he would leave at the end of the season.
PSG and Mbappe have been at loggerheads over the future of the France international since last year, and the player has now officially informed the club that he is not ready to continue his career at the Parc des Princes.
Mbappe’s contract with PSG will expire in the summer of 2024.
With Real Madrid being the frontrunners to sign the player, it is still unclear how the deal will proceed, with PSG not willing to lose such a high-profile player for free as reports suggest an agreement to prevent such from happening.
If Mbappe leaves for free, he will miss out on his annual €70 million commitment compensation package from PSG.
Meanwhile, with Mbappe’s departure confirmed, PSG are now searching for a competent replacement for the French star. UK-based The Athletic reported that the Napoli forward is one of the top names on the club’s list.
Osimhen signed a new contract with Napoli in December with a £113 million release clause, but there is a high possibility that the forward could leave Italy at the end of the current season.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed that Osimhen would leave in the summer.
“Victor Osimhen will leave the club this summer for either Real Madrid, PSG, or some Premier League team,” said Laurentiis.
