Doma United will not be relegated, coach says

Doma United’s head coach, Akinade Onigbinde, has vowed to turn around the recent poor performance of his team to escape relegation at the end of the season.
Onigbinde spoke on Saturday after their 1-1 draw with state rival, Gombe United in an NPFL Match Day 27 tie played at the Pantami Township Stadium.
He admitted that though his team was having challenges, they would bounce back to remain in the league next season.
“I have assurance that the team will not go on relegation,” said Onigbinde. “Having a problem is a learning process. We are also learning. This is our second time in the premier league, and we cannot just say we are going to be among the top teams.”
“We are trying, and we will bounce back. It’s just a matter of time we will make it,” he said.
He attributed their recent poor performance in the league to injuries and the absence of some players outside the country for trials.
Onigbinde, however, expressed optimism that with the return of the injured players, his team’s performance would improve in their match against Akwa United.
On the match with Gombe United, Onigbinde said it was not a good match for them as they intended to pick maximum points to move up the NPFL table.
He apologised to fans and supporters of the club who felt disappointed by the club’s recent poor performance.
The coach enjoined them to be patient with the team.
The chief coach of Gombe United, Alhaji Kwairanga, when approached for an interview, turned down the request.
David Nnaji scored for Gombe United in the 12th minute of the game, while Musa Usman equalised for Doma United in the 64th minute.
