Watch out for new moon, Sultan tells Muslims

The sighting of the moon would officially signal the end of Ramadan fast which commend about thirty days ago.

The National Moon Sighting Committee of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Muslim Affairs, under the leadership of the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad III, have enjoined Muslims to be on the look out for the new moon.

The sighting of the moon would officially signal the end of Ramadan fast which commenced about thirty days ago.

Mr Abubakar also felicitates with all muslims over the successful completion of the 2021 Ramadan fast, wishing them all immeasurable rewards.

The council said that the moon might be sighted on Tuesday, May 11 2021.
“If the cresent is sighted by Tuesday night, the eminent would address the press to declare Wednesday 2021, as Eid day”.

“However if not sighted on Wednesday, then Thursday will automatically be Eid day”, they said
