Police tighten security, surveillance in Delta

The police commissioner in Delta, Abaniwonda Olufemi, has deployed massive personnel to ensure adequate security during the Eid-El-fitr celebration.
Mr Olufemi disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by the command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe.
The commissioner assured the command would adhere to its mandate of combating crime and enhancing public safety throughout the festive period.
Therefore, he directed all the area commanders, tactical commanders, and divisional police officers to set up a security architecture for proactive and effective policing throughout the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The police rejoiced with the Muslim faithful and noted that the Eid-el-fitr epitomised collective happiness.
He said, “The month of Ramadan brings us blessings. We should learn to shun our differences, promote harmony and show love and affection for each other according to Allah’s teachings.
“The officers of the command will be deployed to all Muslim worship centres and other nooks and crannies of the state to ensure adequate security of lives and properties.”
The police chief urged the public to continue to assist the police and other security agencies with useful information to enable them to serve the state better.
He also admonished them to be security conscious, law-abiding, and take appropriate measures to protect their lives and properties in private and public places.
The police commissioner, on behalf of officers and men of the command, wished all Muslim faithful a happy and peaceful Eid-El-Fitr celebration.
