Cubana Chief Priest pleads not guilty to naira abuse charge
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday arraigned Nigerian socialite Pascal Okechukwu, aka Cubana Chief Priest, before the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court for spraying and tampering with the naira notes during a social event at Eko Hotel.
After the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty to the charge, after which the defence counsel urged the court to grant him bail on liberal terms.
Delivering judgment afterwards, Justice Kehinde Ogundare granted the defendant bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties in like sum
The court held that both sureties must be civil servants of level 16, adding that one must be the owner of a landed property within the jurisdiction.
Davido announces transfer of DMW artistes to new label
During the week, Afrobeats sensation Davido announced plans to transfer artistes from his label, Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), to Nine+ Records, marking a significant shift in the landscape of Nigerian music.
He partnered with UnitedMasters, an American music distributor to launch the new label.
The new venture seeks to embrace diverse music styles beyond Afrobeats, encompassing hip-hop, R&B, Latin, and country genres.
Steve Stoute, the founder and CEO of UnitedMasters, commended Davido’s entrepreneurial drive and conveyed positivity regarding the partnership.
Ruger, BNXN release new joint EP ‘RnB’
Afropop stars Ruger and BNXN have settled their differences and collaborated on an EP titled “RnB”. The two had exchanged jabs on X back in August 2022.
Ruger and BNXN showcased their focus on music by dropping their collaborative album “RnB” (an abbreviation for Ruger and Benson). It includes previously released singles such as “Romeo Must Die (RMD)” and “POE.” “Romeo Must Die (RMD)” reached No. 11 on Billboard‘s U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart.
In a Billboard News interview, Ruger revealed that he and BNXN completed the seven-track project in three days.

Kayode Kasem’s latest film, “Ajosepo,” amassed a staggering ₦50.4 million in box office earnings within five days of its release.

Guinness Records: Spain-based Nigerian wins longest interviewing marathon
Nigerian media and social entrepreneur Chizoba Kronborg achieved the Guinness World Record for the longest interviewing marathon. The marathon, conducted in Marabella, Spain, lasted 55 hours and 24 seconds from March 8 to 10.
She interviewed 90 guests throughout the event to showcase dedication, amplify voices, and inspire others.
Kronborg’s team confirmed her excellent health post-event, marvelling at her resilience.
