A pupil of the Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Imeri, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, Jethro Onose, abducted by suspected gunmen, has regained freedom, Peoples Gazette can report.

The young Onose was abducted in the early hours of Monday while returning to school after a three-week holiday.

Peoples Gazette had reported that the victim, a senior secondary school I pupil, was abducted alongside his father, Maliki Onose, on the roads between the Ondo and Edo states border.

Commander of the Amotekun Corps in Ondo State, Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed Jethro and his father’s rescue in a short message to journalists in Akure on Wednesday.

Mr Adeleye said an operation carried out by the navy and the Amotekun Corps led to the freedom of both the father and son from the kidnappers’ den.

He said, “After the discovery, we immediately sought the permission of the navy and together we both combed the length and breadth of the forest in collaboration. Both the father and his son are now safe and have reunited with their family.’’

Peoples Gazette could not immediately get the reaction of the school authorities as the mobile phones of the school head were switched off as of the time this report was filed.
