Ibadan: Four arraigned for stealing IBEDC transformer cable

Four men appeared before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Thursday for allegedly stealing an electric transformer cable worth N2.5 million.
The defendants are charged with conspiracy and stealing, but they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp Oladejo Balogun, told the court that the defendants committed the offences in March and April near Police Mobile Gate, Eleyele, Ibadan.
Mr Balogun alleged that the defendants conspired to steal the armoured cable from a transformer belonging to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The magistrate, Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, granted the defendants bail of N500,000 with two sureties each.
She adjourned the case until June 13 for hearing.
