Nasarawa: Police nab two ‘one chance’ suspects

The police command in Nasarawa says it has arrested two suspects for alleged ‘one-chance’ robbery operations.
‘One-chance’ refers to a robbery operation where armed robbers use disguised commercial vehicles to pick up unsuspecting passengers and dispossess them of their valuables while in transit.
The command’s spokesman, Ramhan Nansel, said Tuesday in Lafia that the suspects were arrested in Keffi LGA.
Mr Nansel explained that the suspects, aged 52 and 45 years, were arrested at about 9:45 a.m. in Angwan Lambu, Keffi, based on intelligence.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects usually posed as taxi drivers to pick unsuspecting passengers and drive away to unknown destinations. They would, thereafter, dispossess their victims of money and other belongings, then abandon them and sometimes kill them,” he added.
The spokesman said the suspects confessed to committing the crime and revealed that they have been operating for over 10 years on Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga Road.
“The suspects further said that they were recently released from Shendam custodial facility in Plateau state for similar offence after serving their jail term,” Mr Nansel added.
He listed items recovered from the suspects as exhibits, including a Toyota Carina II vehicle with registration number Abuja CO 212 ABC, one axe, and a hammer.
Mr Nansel said the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution after investigation.
