ICT expert urges investment in computer education for pupils

An Ilorin, Kwara-based Information and Communication Technology expert, Kayode Balogun, has urged stakeholders to improve computer education in nursery and primary schools to prepare children for the future.
Mr Balogun, the chief executive officer of Tech. in Taiwo, Ilorin, told journalists on Sunday that computer education should be prioritised in elementary classes to give the students an advantage.
According to him, every child deserves computer skills to prepare for emerging challenges.
“The world is now a global village. We need to prepare the children for the future via ICT skills in order to compete at the highest level. The government should focus more on how to take computer education to the basics and ensure every student embraces it. If we invest in ICT for the children, Nigeria will have a great future and that will revolutionise the sciences in the country,” he said.
He, however, urged all tiers of government and NGOs to provide necessary ICT equipment for schools.
Mr Balogun also appealed to education stakeholders to ensure the upgrading of computer education syllabuses to meet global standards.
