The Nigerian Army inaugurated the semi-permanent accommodation of the 382 Artillery Regiment at the Nigerian Army Cantonment Gusau, Zamfara, on Thursday.

Speaking at the event, the brigade commander of 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army Gusau, Brig.-Gen. Sani Ahmed commended the Chief of Army Staff,  Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja for providing the edifice for the officers and soldiers.

“I am happy and proud to share in the joy of the completion of this Semi Permanent Accommodation for 382 Artillery Regiment. The conceptualisation of this project is to provide an immediate office and residential accommodation for 382 Artillery Regiment personnel as the Regiment is operationalised under 1 Brigade.

“This, in the interim, is to improve your well-being while effort is being made to construct a permanent accommodation for the Regiment,” the brigade commander said.

Mr Ahmed, who is also the commander of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), said the army headquarters was ready to provide all that troops required to fulfil their mission, which is a great factor in winning battles.

“The moral component of fighting power is boosted by improving troops welfare and providing great leadership. The completion of this project symbolises the relentless efforts of the chief of army staff to improve the welfare of troops and, by extension, the moral component of the fighting power of the Nigerian Army.

“The Nigerian Army is currently combating various security challenges and it is essential that you are adequately equipped and accommodated to carry out your duties effectively.

“This is in line with the chief of army staff’s command philosophy which is to transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped and highly motivated force towards achieving our constitutional responsibilities within a Joint environment,” Mr Ahmed explained.

He added that the structure would ensure the soldiers reside in decent accommodation for better productivity.
