FCTA disburses N3.72 billion statutory allocation to area councils, teachers

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has disbursed N3.72 billion to the six area councils, teachers and pension schemes as the statutory allocation for April.
Mariya Mahmoud, FCT Minister of State, said during the 189th Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) in Abuja on Friday that the amount was 47 per cent less than the N6.32 billion disbursed in March.
A breakdown of the figure shows that N1.24 billion was shared among the six area councils, while N2.49 billion was allocated to teachers and the pension scheme.
Out of the N1.24 billion allocated to the area councils, the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) received N373.96 million, Gwagwalada N175.26 million, and Kuje got N205.1 million.
Similarly, the Bwari Area Council received N169.16 million, Abaji received N131.71 million, and the Kwali Area Council received N181.44 million
The breakdown also indicated that primary school teachers received N2.12 billion, while N37.24 million was earmarked as a one-percent training fund.
Also, N226.48 million was set aside as a 15 per cent pension fund, while N107.85 million was earmarked as a 10 per cent employer pension contribution.
The minister called on area council authorities to make maximum use of the funds.
