The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the details of the governorship candidates participating in the November 16, 2024 gubernatorial election in Ondo state.

The personal details of 17 governorship candidates of the political parties were published and made public on Saturday.

“As indicated in our Press Release dated 23rd May 2024, the Commission today (Saturday) published the personal particulars and academic credentials of candidates and their running mates (Form EC9) for the Ondo State Governorship election at the State office in Akure for public scrutiny,” the electoral body further revealed in a post on social media.

Peoples Gazette reported that the details were published barely a day after INEC revealed it would publicly make known the credentials of the candidates.

In the copy of the publication, the details of the deputy governorship candidates of the parties were also published.

However, The Gazette gathered that some of the political parties used a “placeholder” for the slot of the deputy governorship.

With less than six months to the Ondo governorship election, the electoral body is expected to publish the final names of candidates for the exercise by June 18, after which substitution by the political parties would have been effected.

Also, political campaigns will kick off on June 19.
