Gov. Lawal inaugurates school, hospital projects in Zamfara

Zamfara State governor, Dauda Lawal, on Monday inaugurated the renovated state-owned College of Agriculture and Animal Sciences and the upgraded general hospital in Bakura and Maradun Local Government Areas.
The inauguration was part of the first anniversary of Mr Lawal’s administration in the state.
The governor also inspected the general hospital in Talata Mafara where he lamented its state of dilapidation.
He stated, “I am highly disappointed with the current condition of this facility. I can’t imagine seeing a general hospital in this condition. This is unfortunate. I am disturbed to have this kind of health facility in a place like Talata Mafara, a second developed town in Zamfara.
“You know, my administration has recently declared a state of emergency in the health sector under my administration’s policy to upgrade the health sector of the state. Since my assumption of office, my administration embarked on total renovation of health facilities across the state.”
According to Mr Lawal, the state government will soon modernise the hospital.
He stated, “We are going to make it to international standard.”
In Bakura, while inaugurating the renovated College of Agriculture and Animal Sciences, the governor said the project was part of his effort to promote the education sector.
The governor said, “You know, Zamfara is a farming state, farming is our pride. Therefore, my administration will give much consideration to this school. I believe the renovation project in this school will promote its standard to compete with other institutions across the country.’’
Also speaking, a former governor of the state, Ahmed Yerima, commended Mr Lawal for renovating the college.
He stated, “I am using this medium to appreciate Governor Lawal for executing various developmental projects across the state within just one year in office. I call on the management of this college, staff and students to utilise the opportunity brought to this institution.’’
Mr Lawal while inaugurating the upgraded general hospital in Maradun said the project was in fulfilment of his campaign promises.
He stated, “During my campaigns, I promised to provide an adequate and quality health care system in the state. In a few weeks, we are going to provide the necessary equipment to this facility, and soon we will upgrade the standard of this hospital.’’
