NBA Draft: LeBron James’ son Bronny joins Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James and his son Bronny James are set to etch their names in NBA history as the first father-son duo to grace the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the same season.
This unprecedented feat was made possible when Bronny was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2024 NBA draft on Thursday.
The 19-year-old was selected 55th overall from the University of Southern California on Thursday, the second day of the NBA draft. This puts him on the same team as his father, who had publicly said his dream is to play in the NBA with his son.
“My dream has always just been to put my name out, make a name for myself, and, of course, get to the NBA,” James said at the NBA Draft Combine in May.
It has been an incredible year for James, who left basketball for more than four months after he suffered a cardiac arrest caused by a congenital heart defect during a workout session at USC.
Meanwhile, Nigerians also left their mark in this year’s tournament, with Oso Ighodaro selected by the Portland Trail Blazers, Adem Bona selected by the Philadelphia 76ers, and Jonathan Mogbo picked by the Toronto Raptors.
