Nasarawa police kill two suspected armed robbers, arrest others

Operatives of the Nasarawa state police command in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, on Saturday, neutralised two armed robbers around Karahi by-pass.
The public relations officer of the command, Ramhan Nansel, in a press statement, said while the pair died in the hospital after engaging operatives in a gun duel, two others were arrested.
The state’s police spokesperson said, “On 29/6/2024 at about 0310hrs, a distress call was received by the Divisional Police officer, Karshi, about an ongoing armed robbery operation around Karshi by-pass.
“Upon receipt of the information, Police operatives, in collaboration with the military, swiftly moved to the scene. On sighting security agents, the criminals opened fire on them where a gun duel ensued,” he stated.
Mr Nansel stated that, “two of the criminals were fatally injured and rushed to the hospital, where they subsequently died while receiving treatment, and others escaped with bullet wounds.”
He said the combined team of operatives combed the area “where two suspects namely: Yusuf Lawal ‘M’ 27yrs a resident of Nyanya FCT and Hamza Abdullahi ‘M’ of orange market, Mararaba whom both hail from Bauchi state, were arrested in connection to the commission of the crime.”
“Exhibits recovered from the suspects include: 3 cartridges, 3 Cutlasses, 19 handsets of different brands, 2 Laptops, 9 pairs of shoes, a wrist watch, 1 MP 3 player, 1 power bank, 3 torches, 3 bags, 2 ear pods, a smoother, sachets of Milk and Milo and the sum of two thousand-six hundred Naira,”he revealed.
Mr Nansel said the Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, commended the officers for a job well done and charged them to sustain the tempo.
