Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, will on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, swear in his daughter-in-law, Oluwakemi Victoria Ariwoola, as a judge of the Federal Capital Territory High Court.

Aside from his daughter-in-law, who hails from Oyo State, the CJN will also swear in Lesley Nkesi Belema Wike, said to be a daughter-in-law of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike from Rivers State, and 10 other newly appointed judges of the FCT High Court at the ceremony.

A statement by Supreme Court spokesperson Festus Akande said the swearing-in ceremony will be held in the main courtroom of the apex court by 10:00 a.m.

The new judges include Buetnaan Mandy Bassi (Plateau State), Ademuyiwa Olakunle Oyeyipo (Kwara State), Bamodu Odunayo Olutomi (Lagos State), Iheabunike Anumaenwe Godwin (Imo State), Odo Celestine Obinna (Enugu State), and Hauwa Lawal Gummi (Zamfara State).

Others include Sarah Benjamin Inesu Avoh (Bayelsa State), Maryam Iye Yusuf (Kogi State), Justice Ariwoola Oluwakemi Victoria (Oyo State), Lesley Nkesi Belema Wike (Rivers State), Ibrahim Tanko Munirat Bauchi State) and Abdulrahman Usman (Taraba State).

The appointees are among 86 new judges recommended by the National Judicial Council (NJC) as judges of the federal and state courts in May.

Twenty-two of the judges were recommended to the Appeal Court, one of whom is the wife of Mr Wike, Eberechi Suzette, who was elevated from being a judge at the Rivers High Court.
