Eight years not enough to fix Ogun bad roads: Gov Abiodun

Amid criticism of his government’s neglect of deplorable Ogun state roads, Governor Dapo Abiodun has called for patience, saying eight years is not enough to fix bad roads in the state.
“I want to implore our people to be patient with us. We cannot fix all the bad roads in three years,” Mr Abiodun told journalists on Monday.
“In fact, no administration can reconstruct all the roads in Ogun State, not even in 8 years.”
Mr Abiodun has spent five years in office as governor, after he first won the governorship election in 2019.
The governor’s appeal and moves to repair some of the bad roads in the state followed huge public criticism of his government last week.
With #Dapofixogunroads trend, netizens dragged Mr Abiodun asking him to focus on fixing Ogun bad roads rather than wasting resources on flamboyant lifestyle.
In the past few days, torrential rains have left roads in Mr Abiodun’s state in deplorable state, forcing some commuters to express their frustrations as they use the road.
Footages circulated on social media showed motorists with their broken down vehicles, as well as pedestrians almost half swallowed in the heavily flooded roads, caused by huge potholes and lack of drainage channels.
