Gov Abiodun urges Ogun youths to shelve protests for dialogue

Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has appealed to youths in the state to embrace dialogue in addressing their concerns rather than embarking on a nationwide protest.
The governor in a post on his X handle on Wednesday said ‘unidentified groups’ were planning the #EndBadGovt protests slated for August.
The governor said the state government met with youth organisations in the state, where the importance of addressing issues through constructive and civil engagement was emphasized.
He expressed his administration’s dedication to include “young people in governance, having appointed many into key roles and creating opportunities through initiatives like the job portal and local content law.”
Noting that his administration established separate ministries for sport development and youth development to better address specific needs, the governor added that his government was in the process of appointing a new commissioner for youth to give youth a strong voice in the government.
The governor while acknowledging concerns and criticisms, particularly on social media, reiterated that his government’s commitment remained its development agenda.
He appreciated the support and feedback from the National Youth Council of Nigeria and other youth leaders, and expressed confidence that, “together, through dialogue and collaboration, we can address the issues facing our state and continue to build a better future for all.”
