Zamfara: Governor Lawal approves reconstruction of 108km Dansadau road
Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara has approved the immediate reconstruction of 108km Magami-Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area.
This is contained in statement on Tuesday by Mr Lawal’s media aide, Suleiman Idris, in Gusau, the state capital.
According to the statement, Mr Lawal gave the approval during the State Executive Council meeting on Monday.
The governor said the project was approved as part of the measures to tackle security concerns in the area.
He assured that the Zamfara government under his watch would continue to prioritise the well-being of the people who had been affected by banditry and kidnapping.
Mr Lawal explained that the process for the 108km road project as outlined in the 2024 budget had made significant progress.
“The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure obtained the consent to commence the due process for the award of contract.
“The ministry had already secured authorisation and certificate of no objection from the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP),” he said.
The governor said the state government had approved the contract award to Dantata and Sawoe Construction Co. Ltd.
He explained that the company was selected for being the lowest “responsive” bidder in terms of cost, which is N81.1 billion and, with shortest contract duration of 18 months without compromising quality.
The major scope of work as outlined for the project include clearance to the limit of the construction area and total scarification of the existing deteriorated surface, removal of unsuitable material and replacement with approved quality material.
Others are provision of filter material at identified locations, provision of approved laterite fill to makeup levels, provision of different types of hydraulic structures.
The project would also include reinforced concrete drains at identified locations and provisions of access cover slabs.
The media aide said the 2024 budget performance was also delibrated at the State Executive Council Meeting, presided by the governor.
