A member representing Suru Local Government Constituency in the Kebbi House of Assembly, Faruku Maisudan, has sponsored 23 pupils to study at the state College of Health Sciences and Technology.

Mr Maisudan presented the letters of admission to the 17 female and six male students at Suru in the Suru Local Government Area of the state on Sunday.

He said the presentation of admission letters to the females of his constituency was part of his scholarship programme and his pledge to provide health workers in all the 11 wards of the constituency.

He said, “This is why I decided to provide full scholarships to 23 students of the college who are largely female students. Education is a key driver of any meaningful development and societal progress. Any government that wants to ensure a prosperous, equitable, and sustainable society will, therefore, continue to give the sector a priority attention to improve. Education is not only crucial to individuals but also to society at large and that’s why I decided to give it a special consideration while discharging my responsibility as a lawmaker and representative of the people.’’

Mr Maisudan urged the beneficiaries to make use of the opportunity judiciously for their benefit and society as a whole.

The lawmaker said each of the beneficiaries would be entitled to full payment of registration fees and other logistical expenses.

Speaking on behalf of parents of the beneficiaries, the “Lamido Dakingari,” Jafar Haliru-Mutube II, commended Mr Maisudan for his leadership and contributions to education in the area.

He said that his domain was blessed to have Maisudan as its representative.

“This programme is the third batch of Maisudan’s scholarship scheme. I recall three months ago, the lawmaker granted scholarships to our students to study at the Kebbi State Polytechnic and other institutions in the state. We thank him for that and we urge other well-to-do individuals to emulate the gesture and his efforts to ensure our children acquire western education,” Mr Haliru-Mutube said.
