Defence minister Matawalle donates N20 million to Zamfara flood victims

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, donated N20 million to victims of last Friday’s flood disaster in Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara.
Mr Matawalle presented the cash assistance to the Emir of Gummi, Justice Lawal Hassan, on Tuesday.
The minister, represented by the state chairman of APC, Tukur Dan Fulani, commiserated with disaster victims and urged them to remain patient and expect better recompense from God.
“This cash assistance is an emergency response support to the affected families pending the outcome of the emirate’s verification committee report,” Mr Matawalle added.
The minister expressed his commitment to always contribute to alleviating the sufferings of the people affected by the flood.
Mr Matawalle prayed to God against a repeat of such disaster.
He appealed to wealthy individuals in the state to provide immediate assistance to the victims.
Receiving the donation, the Emir of Gummi expressed appreciation to the minister for the quick response to the victims.
“This is timely; it would cushion the effect of the disaster on the victims,” he said.
The emir assured the victims of the timely and judicious distribution of the money.
