Israel’s West Bank operation could last longer: IDF

Israel’s large-scale military operation in the occupied West Bank could last several days, the Times of Israel reported on Wednesday, citing sources in the Israel Defence Forces (IDF).
The main focus of the operation, which began overnight, in the Tulkarem region, but forces are also active in the city of Jenin and a refugee camp near Tubas.
Several wanted Palestinians have been arrested during the operation, according to the military.
Five people were killed in the refugee camp and two in Jenin during the operation, the Palestinian Health Ministry in the West Bank said.
Three were killed in a drone attack on their vehicle south of Jenin, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent emergency service.
Israel blamed Iran for weapons build-up.
“The IDF is working intensively from tonight in the Jenin and Tulkarem refugee camps to thwart Islamic-Iranian terrorist infrastructures that have been established there,’’ Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz posted on X.
He accused Iran of “working to establish an eastern terrorist front against Israel in the West Bank following a model in Gaza and Lebanon by financing and arming terrorists and smuggling advanced weapons from Jordan.’’
