Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State says his administration has restated the boarding status of 15 girls’ secondary schools, which the immediate past administration of Abdullahi Ganduje removed.

Mr Yusuf said this during an unscheduled inspection of the Government Girls Secondary School in Albasu Local Government Area of Kano State, according to a statement by his spokesperson, Bature Tofa, on Monday in Albasu,

The governor expressed dismay over the de-boarding of the schools, saying it halted the academic pursuit of many talented girls.

He instructed the Ministry of Education to, as a matter of urgency, post English Language, Mathematics and Natural Sciences teachers to the school.

The governor said rehabilitation work had already commenced for the re-boarded schools to resume academic activities in the next school calendar.

He said the state government would continue building and rehabilitating more classrooms and equipping them for a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning in schools across the state.

Mr Yusuf restated his administration`s commitment to implement the full components of the declaration of a state of emergency on education in the state.

The governor, who also inspected work on the five km Albasu road, which is 98 per cent completed, expressed delight at the level of work done.

He urged the contractor to speed up and complete the remaining work as soon as possible.
