ANWBN secures $19,985 grant to empower women with digital skills

The Association of Nigerian Women Business Network (ANWBN) has received a 19,985 dollar grant to empower women entrepreneurs in Northern Nigeria with digital skills.
The national coordinator/project director of ANWBN, Angela Ajala, said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) provided the grant to enable ANWBN to implement the “Digital Literacy and E-commerce Training for Women-Owned Businesses” project.
According to Ms Ajala, the initiative will empower women entrepreneurs in three communities across Northern Nigeria, equipping them with essential digital skills to thrive in today’s economy and bridge the digital divide.
She said that the grant by CIPE reinforced ANWBN’s mission to promote economic inclusivity and support marginalised women-owned businesses.
“The project will provide comprehensive training in digital literacy and e-commerce, enabling participants to enhance business operations, access global markets, and drive long-term economic growth in their communities.
“This grant will impact women entrepreneurs in Northern Nigeria by
providing them with the digital tools and skills needed to succeed in today’s
competitive market.
“Our goal is to empower these women with skills that foster business growth and resilience. We are incredibly grateful to CIPE for supporting this transformative project,” she said.
Ms Ajala said that the project would train at least 75 women through hands-on workshops, business coaching, and mentorship.
She listed key areas of focus to include website development, digital marketing,
online sales platforms, and social media management.
According to her, participants will also be onboarded to an e-commerce marketplace to expand their reach globally.
Also, Amede Achingale, project manager for the initiative, said that the project was about teaching digital skills, and also about driving systemic change.
Ms Achingale said that the project would equally create opportunities for women to compete on a global stage and succeed in ways they never thought possible.
“Beyond its immediate benefits, the project will have a broader community impact as women-owned businesses grow, create jobs, and foster innovation.
“This initiative aligns with ANWBN’s goal of driving sustainable socio-economic development by empowering women and marginalised groups.
“This training and e-commerce onboarding will unlock doors to opportunities women never imagined.
“It will create lasting change for both the women and their communities,” Ms Achingale said.
She called on individuals, companies, and stakeholders to support the success of the project while urging them to help ensure that women entrepreneurs across Nigeria have the skills they need to thrive in the digital economy.
According to her, this is just the beginning. “Together, we can create a more inclusive and prosperous future for all.”
