Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna state says the launch of key health policy documents and distribution of vehicles for disease control is a significant milestone in the state’s quest for improved healthcare delivery.

Mr Sani made this known at the event, which saw the unveiling of the State’s Public Health Law and One Health Strategic Plan.

Also unveiled were: human resource for health policy and the integrated reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, adolescent, elderly health and nutrition strategy.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the well-being of the state’s most vulnerable populations.

Mr Sani said, “Our governance agenda prioritises health as one of its key pillars.

”By launching these strategic documents, we are setting a clear path towards improving access to quality healthcare services for all citizens of Kaduna State.

“These policies will help address key health indicators, particularly for mothers, children, adolescents, and the elderly, while strengthening epidemic preparedness and response efforts.’’

He emphasised the importance of mobile integrated outreaches, which provide essential services such as immunisations, birth registrations, reproductive health care, and disease screenings in rural communities.

Mr Sani said that the policies, alongside the state’s public health law, would further empower the health sector and ensure legal recourse for the citizens regarding public health violations.

The governor also inaugurated motorcycles and trucks for LG supervisors and the state’s tuberculosis and HIV programme, aimed at enhancing active case finding in the hard-to-reach areas.

The state has also commenced the distribution of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) to combat malnutrition, in partnership with the World Bank.

The commissioner for health, Umma Ahmed, praised the governor for his dedication to the healthcare system.

She thanked the international development partners like the Global Fund and UNICEF for their support in bolstering Kaduna’s TB and HIV programmes.

The Emir of Zazzau, Ahmad Bamali, extolled the state’s efforts in improving public health and urged continued focus on grassroots advocacy to combat deadly diseases.

Dr Isiyaku Ahmadu, a representative from the federal ministry of health, also reiterated their commitment to collaborating with the state on health initiatives aimed at transforming the sector.

He said the launch marked a new chapter in the state’s fight against public health challenges.
