The Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASCHEMA) has enrolled 52,000 workers into the scheme to enhance quality healthcare service delivery.

The agency’s executive secretary, Ibrahim Inuwa, stated this in an interview in Bauchi on Monday.

He said the enrollees comprised state and local government workers, who are expected to begin accessing the services in October 2024.

Mr Inuwa said medicare services would be provided to the dependent of the enrollees at the same time, adding that reductions were made for three months as part of the programme’s prerequisite.

He listed the health service providers as Bauchi Specialist Hospital, 26 general hospitals, all accredited primary healthcare centres, and private hospitals across the state.

The secretary said the agency would disburse funds to the health facilities to facilitate the smooth running of the programme, adding that effective monitoring and evaluation measures were being employed to ensure the delivery of quality services.

Mr Inuwa said the services would also cover surgeries and diabetes, adding that the agency planned to enrol 2,000 women suffering from Visco Viginal Fistula (VVF).

He said the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) would also enrol 10,000 vulnerable children and women into the scheme.
