Hope of accessing clean water has become a reality for the Alabata community in Oyo state thanks to Fairaction Charity Foundation, an Australian-based NGO.

On Saturday, the NGO handed over a solar-powered borehole to the community, sparking excitement among residents.

The provision of the borehole has ended the community’s long-standing challenge of accessing clean and safe drinking water.

Yinusa Akilade, the Balogun of Alabata, praised the initiative, saying it would solve the critical issue of clean water access.

According to Mr Akilade, who was represented by Rasaq Oloyede, residents have suffered hardship due to a lack of access to clean water.

“We thank God the challenge has ended today. We appreciate the Fairaction Charity Foundation for its sensitivity and responsiveness to our plight.”

The community youth leader, Rasak Babatunde, commended the donor foundation, noting the solar-powered borehole’s importance for hygiene and daily living.

He said with the borehole, exposure to water-borne diseases would be eradicated as the people would no longer travel far distances for drinkable water.

Fairaction Charity Foundation’s founder, Samuel Adeuti, shared his personal experience growing up in a village without clean water, inspiring his passion for providing boreholes.

He said his foundation’s mission aligned with the United Nations’ goal to provide clean water for all by 2030.

Mr Adeuti, represented by his brother Olusola Adeuti, planned to provide boreholes to many communities nationwide and was currently mapping potential locations.

He urged the beneficiary community to maintain and protect the project.
