Zamfara APC welcomes Gummi after defection from PDP

The Zamfara chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has welcomed Rep. Sulaiman Gummi, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr Gummi, representing Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency, on Wednesday, announced his defection from the PDP to the APC over an alleged crisis in the state PDP chapter.
The state APC publicity secretary, Yusuf Idris, while addressing journalists in Gusau on Thursday, described Mr Gummi’s defection to the APC as a welcome development.
“On behalf of the state APC Chairman, Tukur Danfulani, we warmly welcome the member representing Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency in the House of Reps, Suleiman Gummi, to the APC.
“Gummi’s defection to the APC was formally announced by the Speaker of the House of Representatives during the House plenary on Wednesday.
“We want to assure Mr Gummi, along with his teeming supporters, that they will be accorded all the rights and privileges like any other member of our great party,” he said.
“The APC is honoured to have Mr Gummi, with his wealth of experience and overwhelming supporters, to further boost the good image of the party.
“The APC remained the party to beat and has always been guided by its constitution, where members are law-abiding and responsibly respectful to leaders and to one another,” he added.
Mr Idris said that a date to receive Mr Gummi with his teeming supporters by the party leadership in the state would be announced.
“The party leadership will make arrangements to formally receive the lawmaker and his followers into the APC in Gummi town,” Mr Idris explained.
