Musiliu Obanikoro, member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), on Friday, advised Lagos state council chairmen to continue to make people their focus on governance.

Mr Obanikoro gave the advice during an assessment visit to Ikorodu Local Government and engagement with stakeholders in grassroots development.

He expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded by Ikorodu council, noting that good governance centres on promoting quality service delivery to the citizens.

“The assessment is an in-house thing, so far, so good; we’re happy with what we have seen.

“This has shown that the All Progressive Congress is a progressive party and all our council chairmen are progressive-minded people.

“That is why doing good is paramount to them and most of them have done exceptionally well,” he said.

Earlier, Wasiu Adesina, chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, highlighted some of his administration’s accomplishments to include: construction of inner roads in Ikorodu.

Others are the provision of computer departments in primary schools, organised debate competitions among secondary schools and construction of drainages.

Mr Adesina expressed gratitude to stakeholders and residents for their support and pledged to improve infrastructure standards in the local government before the expiration of his tenure.

The Baale of Ojogbe, Kayode Olomo, urged GAC members to push for an upward review of the allocation to Ikorodu LG to improve its capacity on capital-intensive projects.

Also, Lukman Shonibare, secretary, Community Development Committee and Mrs Busola Isikalu, the Iyaloja General of Ikorodu, commended the council chairman on his developmental strides and requested an official bus for the market.

The GAC and APC party leaders were on a project assessment tour of local governments in Lagos East Senatorial District.
