Premier League referee suspended for allegedly insulting Liverpool’s former boss Klopp

Premier League referee David Coote has been suspended by Professional Game Match Officials Limited, the body responsible for refereeing games in English professional football after viral videos showed him making derogatory remarks about Liverpool and their former manager Jurgen Klopp.
“Premier League referee David Coote has been suspended with immediate effect pending a full investigation,” the referee’s governing body said in a statement on Monday.
“PGMOL will be making no further comment until that process is complete,” the statement added.
In a viral video, Coote called Liverpool ‘s’ and referred to Klopp as a ‘German c’ after being asked by an unidentified person “What did you think about the Liverpool game earlier?” — and “What do you think about Jurgen Klopp?”
Coote appeared to reference the Premier League between Liverpool and Burnley in July 2020, which ended 1-1, with Klopp saying after the game that “we were angry with the referee” over some controversial calls the 42-year-old official made during the tie.
Klopp had “a right pop at me when I reffed them against Burnley in lockdown,” Coote alleged in the video.
