Ondo Guber Poll: Gov. Aiyedatiwa declares Friday work-free day

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa declared Friday a work-free day for all civil servants ahead of the state off-cycle governorship election.
Mr Aiyedatiwa, in a circular issued by the permanent secretary, office of the Head of Service, O.F Ayodele, said the free day would allow government workers in the state to travel to their various localities to perform their civic exercise.
“To this end, the Ondo State government has declared Friday, 15th November 2024, as a work-free day for public servants in the state to enable them to travel to their various communities to exercise their civic responsibilities.
“All accounting officers are to note the content of this circular and disseminate same to all staff of their respective ministries, departments and agencies,” the circular read in part.
The Ondo governorship election would hold on Saturday, with 17 candidates slugging for the number one seat.
Mr Aiyedatiwa, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, is seeking to retain the office.
He is expected to battle Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a major contender in the election.
