Governor Caleb has urged Plateau residents to trust in God amid the current economic hardship in the country.

The governor gave the advice at the 2024 Annual Thanksgiving Service of the Headquarters Church of the Church of Christ in Nations on Sunday in Jos.

Reacting to a special ministration by a group of deaf worshipers during the service, Mr Mutfwang stressed that the ability to be happy in life remains a choice.

He advised residents, particularly Christians, to keep their faith alive and trust God at all times in spite of the current challenges.

“Happiness is a choice, circumstances may not always be good, but you have a choice to be happy. Your happiness does not depend on others but on you and God, so be happy at all times.

“I want to urge you to continue to present our matters to God; we must have deep faith in spite of our challenges as a nation. As governor, I have reasons to be anxious about many things, but from time to time, the Holy Spirit reminds me of the scripture that says anxiety and worry don’t solve problems, only God can do that,” he said.

The governor, who said that leading the state had been challenging, thanked the people for their support and prayers.

“With your support and prayers, we will continue to do everything we can to make life better for our people. We are looking for ways and means of breaking the cycle of poverty so that prosperity can come to Plateau,” he said.

In a sermon, Caleb Dami advised Christians always to be grateful to God.

Speaking, Dachung Mwadkon and Diket Plang, representing Plateau North and Central senatorial districts, respectively, called on the people to support the current administration in the state to succeed.

The speaker of the Plateau House of Assembly, Gabriel Dewan, and Justice David Mann, Plateau chief judge, among other government officials, accompanied the governor to the church services.
